Palmaris Longus

The Palmaris Longus has a short belly and a long tendon that attaches to the apex of the palmar aponeurosis. This muscle is absent in about 14% of people and may be present on one side but absent on the other.

The median nerve lies to the radial side of the tendon of palmaris longus. The median nerve is the most superficial of those structures passing deep to the flexor retinaculum.
