Flexor Retinaculum (Wrist)

The Flexor Retinaculum is a firm, thick, ligamentous band attaching to the scaphoid, trapezium, hamate, and pisiform carpals. The flexor retinaculum bridges the groove formed by the free carpal bones and creates an osseofibrous canal (carpal tunnel or canal). The long flexor tendons and the median nerve transverse the carpal tunnel.
