Urinary Bladder

In the adult, the Urinary Bladder lies on the pelvic floor beneath the peritoneum and behind the symphysis.

The well filled urinary bladder (350-700mL) can be punctured at the superior margin of the symphysis pubis without injury to the peritoneal cavity. With paralysis of the musculature of the bladder, the apex can ascend to the level of the umbilicus.
