Inguinal Ligament

These ligaments are specializations of the external abdominal oblique aponeurosis. The Inguinal Ligament attaches to the anterior superior iliac spine, the pubic tubercle, and the crest of the pubis. The lacunar (Gimbernat's) ligament is the expansion of the inguinal ligament attached to the pecten pubis. The lacunar ligament forms a flat horizontal shelf. The spermatic cord or the round ligament of the uterus rests on the lacunar ligament. The pectineal (Cooper's) ligament is a posterolateral extension of the inguinal ligament along the pectineal line.
