Submandibular Duct

The Submandibular Duct (Wharton's Duct) lies between the mylohyoid and hyoglossus muscles medial to the lingual nerve. The duct opens by one to three orifices on a small sublingual papilla (or caruncula) lateral to the base of the lingual frenulum.

Sialolithiasis is a painful condition caused by stones in the salivary ducts.
