Sphenopalatine Artery

The Sphenopalatine artery is the terminal branch of the maxillary artery. It passes through the sphenopalatine foramen and supplies the upper 2/3 of the nasal septum, the posterior part of the nasal septum, the lateral wall of the nose, and a part of the nasal floor.

The site of anastomosis of the sphenopalatine artery and the greater palatine artery is a frequent location of hemorrhage (epistaxis or nosebleed).
