Palatoglossal Arch

The Palatoglossal Arch (glossopalatine arch or the anterior pillar of the fauces) is composed of the palatoglossus with its covering mucous membrane. It is the more anterior of the two ridges of soft tissue on each side of the oropharynx. It curves downward from the uvula to the side of the base of the tongue, forming a recess for the palatine tonsil as it diverges from the palatopharyngeal arch.
