Inferior Alveolar Artery

The Inferior Alveolar artery is a branch of the maxillary artery. It enters the mandibular foramen and supplies the mandibular teeth, gingiva, mandible, and mylohyoid muscle. Its mental branch escapes with the mental nerve at the mental foramen to supply the chin.

The angle of the mandible is poorly vascularized and may suffer from alveolar osteitis (dry socket) following tooth extraction.
