Thoracoabdominal Nerve

The Thoracoabdominal intercostal nerves are the anterior rami of T7-T11 spinal nerves. These nerves pass posterior to the costal margin between the transversus abdominis and internal abdominal oblique muscles. The external abdominal oblique muscle is supplied by the lateral cutaneous branches of T7-T11 and the subcostal and iliohypogastric nerves; the internal abdominal oblique and transversus abdominis muscles are supplied by thoracoabdominal intercostal nerves T8-T11 and the subcostal, iliohypogastric, and ilioinguinal nerves. The thoracoabdominal intercostal nerves distribute to the skin of the abdominal wall. The dermatome of the umbilicus is T10.
